Joseph Epstein Targets Dr. Pepper For Next WSJ Op-Ed
Controversial writer claims popular beverage is not an MD.
New York, NY - Joseph Epstein is at it again. Days after facing backlash for his Wall Street Journal editorial about Dr. Jill Biden, Epstein has announced he is working on another opinion piece aimed at Dr. Pepper, the popular soda drink.
In his recent editorial, Epstein, who holds an honorary doctorate in condescension, wrote that Biden’s use of the “Dr.” honorific “feels fraudulent” as she holds a Doctor of Education (Ed.D). Epstein also uses the piece to lament how university education has changed in recent years, criticizing the lack of racism.
“Back in my day, you didn’t even qualify for a doctorate unless you held a country club membership,” wrote Epstein.
A spokesperson for the Wall Street Journal responded to the criticism, defending Epstein.
“It’s an opinion piece, and Mr. Epstein is entitled to his opinion,” the spokesperson said. “Plus, he uses the word ‘kaffeeklatsch’. He’s clearly very intelligent.”
Despite receiving widespread criticism, Epstein has announced he is already working on a new editorial. This time, Epstein says, he is writing about Dr. Pepper, the carbonated beverage.
“Not many people know this, but Dr. Pepper is not a real doctor,” Epstein told the NY Prophet. “The American people are being lied to, and I for one, am sick of it.”
“At least Biden went to college. Dr. Pepper is literally just soda pop!”
The op-ed, entitled “Is There a Doctor in the Fridge? Of Course Not, Why Would There Be a Doctor in the Fridge?”, is expected to be published next week.
